SXSW Interactive Panel: New Threats to New Media: Fair Use on Trial

Apparently blog etiquette demands that I announce I will be speaking on a panel at SXSW Interactive this Tuesday in Austin:

New Threats to New Media: Fair Use on Trial

Room Hilton B

Tuesday, March 17th

10:00 am - 11:00 am

Remix culture has spawned numerous fights over copyrighted content. But the line between fair use and infringement is often blurry. This panel presents real controversial video clips for the audience to judge. Copyright experts and artists will highlight key ingredients for fair use and survival tips for new media makers.

Jason Schultz Dir Samuelson Law & Technology Clinic, UC Berkeley

Julie Ahrens Assoc Dir of the Fair Use Project, Stanford Law School

Kelly Nyks writer / director / producer, split films lcc

  1. Nice. There seems to be Bay Area over-representation on this panel, though. That's bad, right?

Comments here are moderated. I appreciate substantive comments, whether or not they agree with what I've written. Stay on topic, and be civil. Comments that contain name-calling, personal attacks, or the like will be rejected. If you want to rant about how evil the RIAA and MPAA are, and how entertainment companies' employees and attorneys are bad people, there are plenty of other places for you to go.
